Deep in the Sierra Tarahumara lies Batopilas. The winding, narrow 420-meter descent to Batopilas, with cliffs on both sides of the road, is a series of alternating landscapes of coniferous forests and pink, white and brown rock formations. To reach Batopilas is to enter another world: avocados, mangos, guavas and tropical flowers bursting in the warm climate of this small Chihuahua paradise; an important environmental contrast to the Sierra Tarahumara.
